Suzzanna Mathys (Suzi): has provided
accommodation and organised tours for international
tourists in the Western Cape for 9 years on an ad hoc
basis. Suzi is an educator for the Western Cape Department
of Education for the past 28 years. She presently holds
the position of department supervisor in the science
& technology department. Suzi holds a three-year
course diploma in needlework from Hewat Teachers training
college, diploma in science & technology from Peninsula
Technicon & a BA degree from the University of Western
Cape. Suzi has travelled quite extensively nationally
as well as a trip to Europe during 1999.
William Mathys (Willy): have organised
tours for European tourists in the Western Cape for
9 years. He is the founder and Chief Director of We-Shop
Employment Project in Cape Town. He is very actively
involved in the empowerment of the physically disabled
with a special focus on the blind and partially sighted
persons. He has done research on handling the blind
and partially sighted at the University of Freiburg
in Germany.He studied science and technology at the
Peninsula Technicon. He is the inventor of the world's
first Braille Voting Template for all types of elections.
He pioneered the first voter education for blind and
partially sighted persons in South Africa. Willy has
travelled extensively nationally and internationally.
He has facilitated workshops on the handling of persons
with disabilities in the Western Cape and for the Northern
Cape government. During a 1999 visit to Sweden he facilitated
a seminar at the University of Gothenburg. He was also
trained in the Braille Printer manufacturing factory
of Index Braille in Sweden to market and maintain their
Braille printers. |
